WHAT IS A POINT TO POINT?
A PTP or Point to Point Link is a wirelessly transmitted data link between two locations. This is accomplished with 2 specialized wireless units. One end(the main) is configured as an AP/Access Point and the other end (the outbuilding) as a RCVR/Receiver. This type of link allows for internet and local data connections between any computers or devices at either end without having to put a wire between the two locations. The access point end can also provide wifi access to computers, phones, or other devices within range. The range of the PTP can range from less than 100 ft to possibly several km if topography allows. This type of link can also be expanded to include more than one RCVR to become a PTMP/Point to Multi-Point Link so that multiple buildings on your property can connect to your main internet source without having to bury lines or worry about them being too far away. All of this would be explained during an on-site quote in more specific detail for you the customer and your location's needs.
WHAT IS A HOTSPOT?
A Hotspot, also known as an Access Point, is a special wireless unit that is configured to provide wifi access for a specified area. They can be mounted indoors or outdoors to provide wifi access wherever you need it most. These units will need a cable back to your existing router to connect for internet access. They act as an extension of your current service and can be modified into a PTP or PTMP later if desired.
DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING MY COMPUTER IN FOR REPAIR?
Yes! Please make an appointment for drop off and house calls. We operate on a first come first serve basis, but we do offer rush service if you need your computer back right away. Every issue has a different amount of time for a fix. Some may take under 30 mins, some may take several days. We can discuss that prior to drop off.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME WHEN DROPPING OFF MY COMPUTER?
For desktop computers, all you will need to bring is the tower/desktop and the associated power cord.
For laptops, please be sure to bring the power cord as well since they are not universal.
If your computer is having a problem with a specific device (ex. your computer speakers aren't working) please bring in that device if possible, otherwise we can arrange a house call for more specific issues.
